Elmwood, IL Tornado June 5, 2010

Raw footage from a tornado that unfortunately hit the town of Elmwood, IL. This beautiful elephant trunk tornado was on the ground for 11 minutes, and was given a rating of EF-2 with winds around 130 mph. I'm southbound on Highway 22 looking northeast towards Yates City for the large waving elephant trunk tornado. Beautiful wall cloud can be seen in the first few frames which went on to produce this tornado. All tornado video is of the same parent supercell. I would really like to know what the feature is at the end of the video. This was just prior to it moving into Peoria, and I could not observe any real rotation, but it looks like an extremely large tornado. You be the judge, but personally I don't think its a tornado.

I saw that, too, it was north of IL-8 as I drove towards Peoria. I don't think it was a tornado either, it didn't appear to be rotating. -- Nick Nolte

Very Cool to see this tornado family take many forms including Elephant Trunk, A Multiple Vortex, Double Tornado, Wedge Tornado, and rope tornado, very unique storm
