Toby wants to share on how to teach ASL properly. Some people's method of teaching is vocabularies only. Should not! Should teach language involved.

  • Wld you mind DEMONSTRATing how you usually teach ASL signs in sentences and concepts without showing the words.... SHOW IT to us, instead of discussing about it - I agree with you...but a real life demonstration of how fluent ASL teachers teaches without reading from a list would be appreciated. .

  • @valereed its EXPOSE

  • what is the sign he is doing at 0:40 and 1:28 and 2:56? it must be very important.

  • I totally agree!! I have just a over a couple weeks until TASC - ASL interview exam to become certified to teach it here in Texas, I can't wait (although I'm super nervous).

  • :)

I really like your details in this video,You explain it very well!

  • good one!

Yep...I am having great time this quarter team teaching with Deaf woman. Works out great! She is the language model, cultural perspective model, and also works with the 2nd year students. I provide the lesson plan and transition support for the new students. We watch youtube vlogs and I voice those as needed. We pull language samples from vloggers. Thanks for vlogging Mr. Welch!

  • The need is to be balanced. Grammar with out vocab and having vocab with out grammar is useless. The ITP I went through was very strong on grammar, but weak on vocab. More than 70% of my vocab has happen after graduating. The biggest complaint from my fellow graduates was the lack of vocabulary that was omitted from our training.
