I don't want to say anyting too insulting about the CELTA course. (I was failed on it in 2008).
I don't want to get into trouble discussing the CELTA course.
The CELTA course is 40 hours. There are more than 40 criteria. An approach to the course could be to suggest a little script (perhaps as little as 4 lines) which provides evidence that a particular criterion is being met. Perhaps each CELTA student could suggest one such little script for each of the criteria.
A: I want to video a short piece of a lesson, and look at the aims that emerge. Isn't this a useful way of planning a future lesson?
B: your are required to identify and state plans for the lesson you are to give. Don't waste your time reviewing lessons that have already been given.
A: but this advice is contrary to what is presented in the course. We saw a video of a lesson.
B: Yes, but we don't have time to review lessons by looking at videos each week.
A: But accordiong to the wording of 4a, why can't review of a piece of a previous lesson be counted as planning for the next lesson?

@theendofel Hello. I was failed on CELTA so am not the best person you could ask for a rational comment. In hindsight, I made a huge error in enrolling in the course at the last minute. The book "Learning Teaching" which was required, was not avalable in the bookstore and I did not read it until weeks later. I did not find anything in the book to discredit what i was doing in class - but I needed to point this out to the tutor at the time, and did not do this because I had not read the book.

Hello I have recently completed a PGCE year but have dropped out of the final part of this. I was thinking of taking CELTA but I am not sure. Can ask your advice?
