@shaokem for a country like mexico to run the schools in remote places where power lines cant be run without costing millions they get solar cells to run their schools and bare essentials until the villages grow big enough to support a coal plant. at first with such a small village it isnt advantageous for a plant to be built. so think before you speak, and africa would have coal plants if it wasnt for them having to import the coal. so think next time, not trying to be rude but think.

Educate yourself about what is currently going on in Africa with the long existing solar and wind energy that barely gives them enough power to fuel their medical cooling units (for medications/blood) and their lights. They can't run both at the same time in most places off wind and solar alone. wake up and read

the reason why they use green sources is because they dont need a constant supply of coal or uranium or petrol and require very little upkeep. since they dont need to waste money on coal it is a better alternative to building huge plants until their economy can support it.

@shaokem heres the reason, to build and run a coal plant you need people and a steady supply of coal which they dont have. how dumb do you feel now? wind hydro and solar need little to no upkeep. with wind you have a windmill, make sure it works the mechanism is really to understand. solar takes zero upkeep. you put it on the roof and leave it. the cells expire after ten, twenty years you get a new one. in the long run it is cheaper than fossil fuels.
