The Dirge of Myrtle, Part A: Meeting Myrtle

Verse One:
My brothers and me were fishing early in the morn
We cast upon the rivers edge, and watch daylight be born
Then we see this turtle tangled in the weeds
His head pops up, and then goes down
His life in jeopardy

I plunge into the water, nevermind the cold
I butt heads with a slaughterfish, and send to hell its soul
Swim up to the turtle, and unsheathe my knife
Slashing right through that devilish stuff
I save the half shells life

And this is how I met the God
Who'd forever change my life
And this is why we'll sing his song
Forever and for all time

Verse 2:
I drag him from the river, and catch my breath a spell
The turtle he looks shaken up, but all is shortly well
He looks me in the eyes, and thanks me for this deed
Of course I am rightly surprised, (whahaaaa???!!!!)
the turtle can talk it seems

He says his name is Myrtle, he travels the Earth by sea
And all was going right as rain, up until them weeds
He's on a quest for glory. on quest for fame
And that quest would be cut mighty short, if not for me today
