Budgie laying an egg

This is a film of my budgie laying an egg into my husband's hand. She may look a little distressed because there were more people in the house than usual, but she was just fine and still is. She now has 5 beautiful offspring.

That works in theory, but she was chronic layer and nothing seemed to work. Lupron injections worked to a point. When she died some years later from a heart attack, I had a necroscopy done and the vet said she was absolutely loaded with follicles. That may or may not have been a factor.

@vampire795 It was an infertile egg, no male bird around so no chick.  She did have chicks later, I let the parents raise them. The one day old chick is one of hers. All five of her chicks look different from each other.

@maaz4life1 No,my husband caught it and in any case, it was definitely not fertile.

How did she get 5 chicks ? she didnt even have a male right ?

She was laying so many eggs and clearly wanted to brood, so I got her a male, hoping a clutch would help curb the laying. Didn't work.

How old was she when she laid the egg? My budgie just laid one infertile egg and she is 6 years old. It was very traumatic for her. The vet has put her on .04cc's of Mycostatin twice daily for 14 days. Apparently the egg laying gave her a yeast infection. The vet suggested shortening her daylight hours to prevent it from happening again.She has nothing in or around her cage that will encourage nesting behavior either.Thanks for posting this. I never realized how big the eggs were.

@pal0m1n0 to curb the egg laying cover them earlier at night, and leave them coverd till about 10 am. they think its winter and dont lay in winter.

Daddysgirl804149! I know what to do! Look at her spot that the eggs come out. Then put your hand in the cage and sqease that part that the eggs co me out. It will work. I know it will work because I saw it on another video.
