This is a Kirov class Battlecruiser, they have been around since the 70's. It is a capable ship but it is simply not capable of engaging a supercarrier group without air support of it's own. This would be a powerful addition to a carrier group, but everything it does could be done by smaller ships.

All of that aside, it is a beautiful ship.

Beautiful ship, for much the same reasons as why the Iowa class will always be at the top of my "cool" list. That said, Large surface combatant ships like this would be destroyed shockingly fast by US attack SSNs if they approached range of a Navy carrier group. About the only way it would get close enough to pull off "the destruction of enemy aircraft carrier groups" against US carrier group would be if the US group didn't know it was about to start a fight.

Missile fire ship or not, they are too big, too slow and can sent to the bottom of the sea before they even know that an incoming missile is coming in just off of the top of the water. In this day and age, bigger is not better, its down right stupid, that is why the the US and other NATO allies have stayed away from these relics of a far gone era. But, they are impressive to watch.

There is a reason we don't operate battleships anymore. Time to join the modern era Russia and quit building outdated relics that will innevitably sit rotting in shallow water with the rest of the "force"

@dimwitsixtytwelve Well I know now that they are a really bad band with rubbish fans but I have a wide interest in music, so some new bands should be given a chance, in general US bands are hyped up for good reason in different genres in England because they are of good quality (Evenesence was not my kind of music) - look at Kings of Leon - a lot of folks say they are old hat but I still think they are brilliant musicians. English band though are still music's dominant force.
