Is a seaborn fleet of SM3 standard ballistic missile interceptors really the answer to future strategic threats as the missile range will be limited to a few hundred kilometres and the ships vulnerable. The justification for this use of the Arleigh Burkes and Standard is the need to give reassurace to Israel and Turkey and other regional against Iran's growing potential for nuclear, missile and WMD threat. Surely Irans nuclear potential, missiles and subs should be struck at source.
