  • my parents bought their first colour tv that year I can remember seeing a remote for the first time. Also my dad changing channels on us kids through the window. The import taffif thing yeah good they removed it to get prices down but I would rather own a TV made in a factory here in NZ, drive a car assembled here in NZ and eat food from NZ. Also the removal of the tarrifs allowed The Warehouse to get as big as it is now and kill most of the mum and dad businesses in the process.

  • i gotta have that cordless remote!

  • Pro and con in a way I guess. Would prefer Kiwis to still be emplyed by NZ owned companies... But you're right, consumer point of view, bang for buck, imports are more desirable.

  • $1,199 for a 22" television? - thank goodness they got rid of import licensing in NZ soon after this.
