@BeerichiTuba Drinking the Ardbeg 10 year now. It is very similar to the Laphroaig Quarter Cask, only very slightly less intense. When you add a few drops of water, there is a faint sweetness that comes out which you don't get with the Laphroaig Quarter Cask.

@BeerichiTuba I enjoyed the Talisker very much. It's not nearly as over the top as the Laphroaig Quarter Cask.

@BeerichiTuba Ah thats cool man, hopefully you don't have family in Japan right now, heard that earthquake was brutal. Hope everything gets better over there, peace man!

@StumpyJoeJr Ya, it's pretty awesome. It's really expensive here in the US though. They also have a Macallan and Isle of Arran version.

I finished a bottle of Laphroaig Quarter Cask Scotch yesterday and picked up a bottle of Paradox Smokehead for today. Having the Laphroaig so fresh in my memory, there is no doubt where this beer has been chiilin'. It is Islay all the way.

@MiserablerHurensohn That's one Laphroaig I haven't had yet. I've had the 10 and 18. I like Islay Scotch so much. The Smokhead Scotch is definitely the dominant flavor in this but (or that's why) I enjoy this beer.

@BeerichiTuba I've had the 18 year and it's much more mellow than the Quarter Cask. I was sharing that bottle with the owner of the store where I bought the Paradox. He has a chef that works upstairs making prepared meals that they sell at the store. The chef came down and said he smelled smoke. It was the Quarter Cask. That blew my mind. That expression is the most intense peated smoky Scotch I've ever had.

@MiserablerHurensohn Wow, that's awesome. Is it as peaty as Ardberg?

@BeerichiTuba My local store doesn't have the Ardbeg but I'll be sure to go the extra half hour to get one. The reviews I've seen on both make it seem like they may be similar but I'm still guessing the Quarter Cask is still a bit more intense just because it's only about 8 years old. The longer it ages, the more mellow the peatyness gets.

@MiserablerHurensohn Ya, that makes sense. The Ardberg 10 was getting intense for me half way through, although I enjoyed it. I may lean towards the Laphroaig or Talisker more though.
