@Mojo1982 Actually, Saddam is one of the smartest individuals, Army-wise, that History has ever seen. His army was 1000 times stronger than Hafez' army, and he kept Iran out of the Arab nations.

I totally understand al-Asad's position; he totally wanted to keep Israel out of Lebanon. Was Asad paranoid? Hell no...Look, what Israel did after the Six-Day War--obtaining territories, negotiating, with no intention of withdrawing...Kissinger's manipulation (Resolution 242? and 338?)--Israel's fantasy was to get its hands on the whole of Lebanon and build more settlements. Asad did what he had to do, unfortunately at the expense of the PLO and Junblatt. It's was necessary shame.
