I think this decline of beauty that you speak of is the number one problem that faces the world a lack of beauty.
I think the Beauty of efficiency contains a key aspect to the decline of beauty in general. Were the results are made more important than the means i believe that the results are only as beautiful as that which created it and the grace by which it did so. I think this is so often ignored and thats wh we're are going to shit.
