As the official report says, the "TCAS OFF" warning was displayed on both PFDs and the "STANDBY" mode was displayed on both RMUs. However, no one noticed the warnings, since the N600XL was under autopilot and both pilots were distracted with the computer calculations (takeoff and landing parameters to Manaus): around 19:02:08Z, the only activity comes from the synchronous work of the PIC and SIC, on the laptop.
Anyway... An audio warning definitely could've helped to improve safety.

Where is it written? I have read the whole investigation report by CENIPA (the brazilian authority which conducted the investigation along with representatives from Embraer, ExcelAire, FAA, Honeywell and ACSS -- manufacturer of the TCAS equipment) but haven't found this affirmation. The official conclusion was that the pilots didn't properly configure the TCAS (reason why it went into stand-by mode, some time later) and due to their "poor monitoring" they didn't notice that.

The biggest problem was that TCAS was accidently turn off without an audio warning. The pilot/copilot foot rest is located next to the TCAS switch and it was accidently turned off by the pilots (probably when looking through the manual). At the conclusion of the investigation, all Embraer Legacy plances were required to provide an audio indicator when TCAS was turned off. If TCAS was on...all would have been saved.

The Portuguese translation is wrong. The US pilot says "I guess the TCAS is on."

At least one person must be completely familiar with the plane, that was a very important factor in the "chain of errors". It is shameful and ridiculous that at least one of the two american pilots were not proficient with the plane controls and instruments. Even so, they took the responsibility for the plane and the passenger's lives. Would YOU fly with these so-called "professionals"?

WRONG TRANSLATION at 5:59 when the Pilot asks the other if the TCAS is on, the other pilot replies, YEP IT IS ON. But this Brazilian Globo de Merda news, translated E, o TCAS esta desligado. Go ahead and sue those idiots at Globo for lying and being incompetent. We Brazilians are too stupid to do that, so please, you Americans sue this shit news channel because at least you got the balls to do so. Stupid documentary with false translation, what an embarrassment of Brazil....

@ericorenato88 This American is deeply ashamed at watching this video. The American pilots were wrong. Please look at the case, the controllers put both flights at the same altitude. You're right about the American legal system, humble apologies. Nothing can make it right. Loss of life over an accident that nobody wanted.

@LuvAirTraffic it doesn't matter how it happended, your forgeting the big picture. 154 people, with families died, because of the irresponsibility of pilots or what not. If it was a Brazilian jet the crashed unto an American Boeing, and killed 154 AMERICANS, how would the American media, and people would react. Knowing how Americans, are they would start World War III on Brazil.
