If you have a notebook without a docking option it can be a pain to constantly connect and disconnect all the cables that you need to expand your portable onto your desktop. Mice, keyboards, monitors, networking and audio cables can turn your previously svelte machine into a laughable collection of copper spaghetti.

Kensington wants to help you clean up your notebook pasta with their sd200v. This little box connects to your laptop via a single USB 2.0 cable and gives your notebook external monitor, audio and USB connectivity in an easy-to-use, easy-to-configure and fast-to-dock solution.

  • What the fuck has Christianity got to do with computers? or technology/knowledge for that matter. It's because of you cunts we're about 2000 years behind where we we should be.

  • @krystalvortex,

You're absolutely right. It's not like the Jesuits - my religious order - run 65 high schools and 28 universities in the United States, or that we pioneered climate research, or that there are 35 moon craters named after the Jesuits who discovered them, or that the father of the Big Bang theory was a Jesuit, or that we have Jesuits working at the LHC and with Interop (which pioneered much of the tech used to create the Internet).

    Truth trumps misinformation.

    Peace,

    Fr. Robert

  • @gadgettts Truth based on?

  • @krystalvortex,

Fact. --- Look it up for yourself.

  • @cirbyboy,

You wrote: "SEPARATION OF COMPUTERS AND STUPID FUCKING CHURCH CRAP!"

With an argument as persuasive as yours, how could I NOT comply?

  • I don't know if I want this. My experience with USB devices, especially ones that do video, has not been all that good. Still, if you like it... maybe I need to give it a go.

  • Close the lid is not just a matter of laptop setting. I tried it on two laptops that support this feature, it doesn't work. I also have contacted Kensington 4 their support, I got an automated email reply saying they will respond in 24 hours. 3 days now & no response.

I'm not sure how I ended up buying this product, its probably this video. It was after getting disappointed with this product that I realized that packaging does not mention any technical specs as one would expect it to have.

  • mhjrt,

Good point. As I mentioned, the device will support up to 1440×1050, so you can forget hooking up a 24" LCD at native resolution.

As for the "close the lid, lose your video" problem, that sound more like a setting on your laptop than a function of the sd200v. (Look in your power settings and see what the computer is configured to do "When I close my Lid.")

  • before buying this product you need to check the resolution that you need on your monitor, this thing does not support high resolutions.

Also, you need to know that you cannot close the lid of your laptop while docked. I was really disappointed with this product. It looks nice but might be disappointing.

  • Good stuff
