From the Foal

A gift to my mother.

Live action and flip book animation (India ink drawings, wood burned covers). Time: 2 weeks. My mom and I are the actresses, my mom's playing the viola, and my sister (Chloe Mathis) is singing. My dad helped with the power tools for making the covers, and my amazing piano teacher Mike Springer helped me orchestrate the music.

I have to leave for college soon, but I'm going to try very hard to remain close to my family. My mom used to sing "All the Pretty Little Horses" to me when I was little, so I made this film to sing it back to her: a lullaby "from the foal."
