Nissan use CVT in almost all of their vehicles is to cut cost, and not for its superiority. That is why you wont find them in their Infiniti lines (minus the JX) which is basically a Murano. You also wont find them in the GTR or the Z.

@joewillgo 5 speed for a accord. And i have never heard of a full sized car with 8 speed transmission for under 25K
-
@joewillgo Except for the fact that the CVT is more efficient than your gear hunting 8-speed transmission.
-
@TheGuruStud You can get a full sized car for 25 thousand with 8 speed. & a 6-speed transmission is a STANDARD for ALL MID-SIZED CARS! Take Camry/Accord/Sonata for example.
-
@joewillgo except manuf. cost and when it breaks. Cheap cars don't get expensive trannies.

I hate CVTS. I prefer the cars with 8-Speed Auto Transmission. & I think it would be great if Nissan, and every other car company that uses annoying CVT's will switch to 8-spped Auto Transmission. As it's less annoying, and very efficient.

They should of made the 2.5 without the CVT and CVT on the 3.5 because the CVT pulls hard in the 3.5! I test drove one, and now i gotta have it!

@joewillgo i agree,i've driven an altima 2.5 S Coupe with a CVT it was never really annoying as i didnt dig into the throttle enough...only thing is 8 Speed autos tend to annoyingly gear hunt constantly...if you notice Nissan shyed away from using the CVT in their upscale infiniti brand.
