@2bsirius That is the first line in the Prince song "Let's Go Crazy". Mel is telling us the things the voices in her head say, and if you listen, lyrics to songs are a large part of them.

When in a florid manic pychosis I heard the voice of God. If you don't mind, what do your voices sound like? Are they male, female, or both. What about the emotional tone? Do the voices ever talk to you? These voices seem completely indifferent to your presence. In my case God spoke directly to me in a striking baritone. I also felt the ground shaking.

They are male and female. Mostly I hear them make fun of me. Some of them offer advice. I picture people I know and I hate that because it makes me fear people.
