I'm of the opinion that no-one can take even one of these and remain standing, but unless you've been hit with one, that's just not believable.
That said, you make a perfectly valid point. If this punch is delivered while the opponent is ready with a counter or even a simultaneous hit, it does leave one too open. It's probably a good idea to throw this only when the opponent is in an awkward position for a return.

Sorry, I don't like this technique. Punching the body while leaving the head erect like that, with the chin sticking out... A good powerful boxer would trade a head shot for a body shot all day. That's if you can take more than a few haymakers to the head. In boxing, they always lower the head to punch level to minimize this counter...
