The PE6R4-I is the newest model that you can use with Digidesign Pro Tools HD PCI-X card. It is the latest and current model, it replaces the old model PE6R4.
The PE6R4-I uses one Ipass Cable compared to PE6R4 it uses two Infiniband cables.

The Host Interface card for the PE6R4-I is a X8 speed and it can also run on a x4 mode, whereas the host card for PE6R4 only runs at X4 mode speed.

There are three major parts, host card, cable and expansion board with mezzanine card.This is not including the power supply.

PE6R4-I is the nomenclature of a a complete unit, a chassis with board installed.
PE6NE-I, the term NE stands for is the "non-enclosed" board set.

Similar to PE6R4, it is a complete unit, a chassis with board installed
PE6NE, is the non-enclosded board set.


When looking for an expansion solution to housed your Digidesign Pro Tools PCI-X card, the PE6R4-I is the way to go.
It is highly and strongly recommend by Digidesign / Avid.
It is tested and qualified to run Pro Tools Hardware.
PE6R4-I is compatible with MacPro Intel Computer.
