you do want to drive the lead knee but dont use it to initiate the swing; thats the back legs job after the backwards C. And rowing is a very ambigious term and got me into some awful habits. By rowing it is meant that you rotate your body to the pole. The arms actually do little besides provide a solid connection to the pole from which to preform these actions.

this video is a poor example of a good vault..the last step should be a short bounce step, keep lead knee/leg up and arms exteneded..stay in the drive pocket until(you'l kno when) and swing the drag leg up with the lead leg and allow the lower elbo collapse on the same side as your legs(the chest sample is correct in this vid)..raise your hips above your head and row the pole to your back while making a T with your outer foot on the toes of your inner and rotate.. as you cross the bar, should b

you don't want to pull up with the leed knee, that gets the vaulter into a bad habbit or starting the swing with the knee which slows the vaulters swing down more.
