    Arrau in Liszt is supernatural, the twilight zone of the music, another dimension of the beauty, beyond this world.

  • PS--Bravo to the great Cantelli, who, sadly, died so young.

  • Fabulous! Arrau "live" and in his prime! This now becomes one of my two favorites in this Concerto, along with Casadesus. His recording of the Liszt 1st Concerto, also from the 50s, with Ormandy/Philadelphia Orch, is also my favorite. This makes a nice pairing. Thank you for this.

    BTW, I heard Arrau play the 2nd Concerto "live", ca.1979--a bit slower, but still marvelous. And then,right after that, he played the Strauss Burleske. What a concert!
