'we know they're guilty' lulz
the american people might find out that 9/11 related gitmo captives were nothing more than gullible patsies, and most of the other prisoners were either innocent,or simply muslim men trying to protect their families, friends and homeland..thats why america's 'guilty terrorists!' will never see a fair trial.
would you lay back and do nothing if your country was invaded, family killed etc for no reason other than greed?..or would you fight back AKA be a 'terrorist!'?

This Shouldn't even be a question, either you try a civilian in a court or you keep him as a prisoner of war.
The status "enemy combatant" has no place in international law, and was made up as a mean guaranting them basic civil liberties.
The US use of torture will unfortuneatly set the standrad for less developed countries. "Do as I say, not as I do" doesn't really hold up

The "terrorists" (I hate how this word gets thrown around in the american discourse) doesn't hate you for you freedoms, they hate you for your past actions. E.g. overturning democratic government in Iran, replacing with the Shah. Funding and equipping Saddam Hussein in his war against Iran. Placing troops in Saudi Arabia. Reckless and one dimensional support of Israels unlawful occupation of Palestine. etc etc.

It is sad how some people think our justice system this country was founded on is so weak that we can't even try any Gitmo prisoners. I understand most of them had nothing to do with 9/11 or Al Quaeda just people who took reward money by turning in a neighbor they had disputes with because their homes and business were destroyed during our bombing raids.

Difficult though it may be for me to agree with the ACLU (ever) and Liberal Viewer these days) I have to say that the constitution MUST be followed to the letter in EVER criminal case in the USA. However, I would like to hear Liberal Viewer Esq.. explain why not a military tribunal vs open court in NYC?

Ya this federal proceeding will really help to make that guy look like he is a criminal who killed 3000 people and no some martyr shot in back by an oppressive military power, and ya happy to see some Americans stand up for there constitution.

exactly, if the acts of terror result in our Constitutional rights being abridged then they have won a battle. If we carry on as always, same procedures then we have won!
