Schiff's chubby cheeks take bravado to a whole new level
-
and i finished it in the ninth grade. it was a whopping nine pages

i love this song and i devoted quite some time to its worth. when i finally finished and i could play it as flawlessly as i could, i was ecstatic. it's simply brilliant.

Very tempting to fall into it with this piece, but there's just too much bravado on display here from Schiff - he is usually more understated in his playing (which I much prefer).

i always think of the op.142 as a piano sonata ... the first impromptu in more or less sonata form minus the development in f minor ... the second impromptu a menuet like movement in the relative major key ... the third obviously a theme and variations in the subdominant key ... and ofcoarse this fourth impromptu a rondo in the home key of f minor and a firey rondo finale to conclude the most beautiful and exquisitie writing and pieces by schubert ... shame he didn't beleive in concerti lol

Thank you but WHY did the ending cut off??

My favorite of Schubert's Impromptu - but they all are among the most beautiful piano pieces, for my taste. Posting such treasures proofs your sophistication. Thanking you!

My favourite Schubert Imprompu. It's defintely in the category of 'pieces I will never play before I die', and there's only 1 person I know (a concert pianist and music teacher) who could possibly attempt this. Just be amazed - the music score looks mostly black, so many notes. Schubert was a genius and died very young (younger than all of us, 31 I think, and a contemporary of Beethoven).
