LOL you don't think of this shit till you get older, I started watching when I was 5 so made sense to me then when I got older I was like uhm isn't swords and sias suppose to like kill others? They used there weapons defensively all the time! But then if they did that, it wouldn't be appropriate and no storyline haha.

if they weren't allowed to use the bladed weapons for violent purposes, why give donatello and mikey bladed weapons in the new series?

The problem with this bit mainly stems from that there's no real joke or new comedic insight into the series. It feels like something that anyone could have come up with, and that there's really nothing new to see that haven't already seen in a million other 80's cartoon parodies. The only thing the writers was a weak concept, completely reliant on the viewer's familiarity with the show contrasting with the idea of rather intense violence. Basically, some jokes are just too easy for a reason.

@kryshunter Plus they where more easily imitatable due to how easy it was to get nunchucks, compared to katanas or sais.

@operations1000 They might've gotten away with using the butts of the swords, and a sai isn't even sharp, not to mention that it was used to block/break/disarm katana anyway, so they could've done that... Nunchaku were blunt, so they could just whack them, same for the bo staff, also, All of these are just like punches or kicks, but harder.
