Sissel - Jeg Tok Min Nystemte (Bergensiana)

Sissel, the international singing sensation from Norway, is widely regarded as one of the finest and most talented sopranos in the world. Her crystalclear voice has made Sissel a national institution in Norway. Sissel has sung all over the world, selling over six million solo albums. She contributed the haunting vocal tracks for the soundtrack to Titanic. She has been doing great duets with singers like Placido Domingo, Charles Aznavour, Taro Ichihara, Bryn Terfel, Jose Carreras, Russell Watson, Kurt Nilsen, Neil Sedaka and Josh Groban. A very remarkable voice you will only hear once in your lifetime.

This was the big breakthrough of the Norwegian soprano Sissel during the interval in Eurovision Song Contest of 1986.

This is the town song of Bergen, Norway where Sissel was born and raised. This song is also known as "Bergenssangen", "Udsigter fra Ulriken", "Bergensiana", "Jeg tok min nystemte" and among the public: "Nystemten". The lyrics are written by the priest, politician and poet Johan Nordahl Brun when he worked as vicar at Bergen Cathedral (later he became bishop in Bjørgvin). The melody is taken from an old french minuet.

Sissel is borned with a huge talent. Without many rigorous trainings, she still manages to sing well and she's getting better and better. Also, she has an incredible ability to interpret and find a suitable way to address her emotions in singing. She dwarfs almost all pop singers.

She makes me so proud to be from Bergen!!! Few singers have a voice so divine and angelic as Sissel's. I have yet to hear one bad performance from her, everything she sings totally gives me goosebumps from head to toe! She's just nothing short of amazing! :)
