The Nearness of You - Ukulele cover

This Hoagy Carmichael / Ned Washington tune popped into my head yesterday and I went on a hunt for it and found the tabs at doctoruke.com (Jazzy version)

On my search I ran across this version from simpletunes2 which definitely inspired me.

Oh, if I had a voice like that...

I probably rushed this one into production. After all, I DID just learn it yesterday, but once again it's been a long time since I did a video and I was getting antsy to record SOMETHING. And I'm not happy with the video quality...(once I saw it all big and in HD the imperfections really showed up)

I've been finding that whenever I post something it's only after that when I really "find my way" with a piece and truly make it my own...so it will be interesting to see how this one develops now that I've posted it.

I keep threatening (to myself) to orchestrate some of these videos, and this one is SCREAMING for it - so if I do ever redo it, expect some bass and strings behind me - and who knows what else...

maybe you'll start a trend with the ukulele by non-hawaiians... reminds me of my late great uncle bob and his passion for banjo.

i would've never thought of doing this tune on uke.
