This rig was toppled by Hurricane Ivan some 6 years ago. It still leaks today enough to create a plume 10 miles long.
If they can't control this one after 6 years, what are we going to be facing in 6 years after Terrible Tony and the BP Slick?

wait a sec their are more oil spills and that mean s from my information the oil in florida is caused by another. and they blamed it on the one by lousiana. whats going on here. is their more chaos in our water. or is it the one and only one in the gulf of mexico doing this.

@violentojG66 There is one m,ajor disaster and I don't know how many smaller slicks are out there but it is obvious that we, the people, have not been told all we need to know.

We do not need more regulations. We need fewer. Very few people understand that the only reason the oil companies feel the need to drill offshore (the expensive way)is because they are not allowed to drill on land extensively there in the United States. Repealing regulations on domestic drilling would put the offshore drilling industry out of business. Batabing--no more oil leaks in the ocean. Oil leaks on land are relatively easily stopped or repaired without major damage.

I worked on the Ocean Saratoga and the Ocean Concord for 8 years. From what it looks like with the equipment on deck that they are finished the well and were possibly wire lining it. The tanks on the back of the boat could very well be empty tanks. They could have had synthetic drilling mud in them or they could have had chemicals for the drilling mud. How do you know the sheen on the water did not drift from the Horizon leak? The riser is still attached to the well on the Ocean Saratoga

The title of the video has a question mark in it because I can not determine what is actually going on. As for the origin, The oil plume begins at this rig and not beyond. It leads directly from the rig to the mouth of the Mississippi.

I take it that you have flown over the BP slick and seen it all. Please explain the 400 miles or so of red, think, oil smelling slick of raw crude.

If it has taken 6 years and they still have not stopped this one, What do you think is going to happen at the Deep Water Horizon? I think people need to know the extent of impact the oil industry is having on OUR Gulf.

Permitting needs to be strengthened and enforced.

What is going to happen to your tourist economy when some kid eats one of those tar-balls?

@jockdoubleday You have no idea what a Sheen of Oil on the Ocean looks like! It's not Drilling Mud as you say, some is from were they tried the Top Kill and it did not work. You see, drilling mud can not be picked up with a stick nor can it stick you your hands or all Sea or Marine Life. Drilling Mud will sink like sentiment as well, Oil does not. Now as far as the Corexit dispersant goes, yes they are Spraying a Toxic spray on top of another Toxin. OIL Spill Gusher is happening!

Mr.John Wathen, Thanks for all your continuous support in protecting our wildlife. This tragedy to me presents us all with moral dilemmas and the animals and people of the Gulf are definitely suffering from this horrible disaster. So all in all, as a current student at TSTC Harlingen, I believe, the best thing that should be done is to raise awareness.

@pogiguy05 Like it or not-- God gave mankind the Dominion Mandate. Look it up. God told man to "subdue the earth." That is exactly what we've been doing, especially at a rapid pace in the last 150 years. If you don't like progress, you can do two things. 1.) Complain at God, since He said it. 2.) Hug a tree while the bulldozers get ready to excavate for the construction new oil rigs. Any questions?

@hccreekkeeper My father has been a petroleum engineer for Marathon Oil for thirty years. He is the third generation of my family to work for the oil companies. Let's get something straight--you're not gonna tell me sh** about where oil is and where oil isn't. Colorado alone has more oil deposits than all of the Gulf combined. (In case you didn't know--Colorado is landlocked--no ocean coast whatsoever.) Your use of plurals makes me wonder what goes on (or doesn't go on) in your peabrain.

@hccreekkeeper ...I work in shallow water and there is oil there as well. In fact I am on a rig that has the first drilling permit since the spill. Even shallow water rigs were shut down. I've never seen a spill in almost 10 years. I've worked on more rigs than I can count.
