I been riding my own shapes all year, just altering wide decks to have a little more flair. Pretty easy to do, and adds a little something when your skating doesn't have much to add - been riding 25 years now and still suck, so it's fun to get some creativity in there somewhere!
After jig-sawing the basic shape, balance it out and curve the edges with a rasp, then a file, then sand down the edges with off-cuts of griptape (that plastic backing is more durable than the paper of regular sandpaper)

or rout the edges its much better and less time consuming then filing and sanding.

and be sure to put some wood varnish on the sanded edges afterwards to stop moisture getting in!
