When the US government wants a war they don't let the truth get in the way.
1) "Remember the Maine" when the USS Maine blew up in Havana leading to the Spanish American war. The boiler blew but the US said it was attacked.
2) The Gulf of Tonkin incident that wasn't got the US in Vietnam.
2) USS Liberty attacked in the 67 6 day war by Israel in a deliberate attempt to pin the blame on Egypt (It failed)
3) WMD in Iraq when Hans Blix was still leading an investigation they invaded!

Most Americans know Vietnam when Johnson made this announcement in 1965 but few know that the US govt was involved since 1954 supplying military aid directly to S. Vietnam. in 1958 CIA started covert operations against the Pathet Lao and NVA, supporting an army of 40,000 Hmong tribesmen. CIA operated assassination and terrorist squads active inside Vietnam. So, the war America started with Vietnam started more than 10 years earlier than 1965.

@selfatrophy LoL, you should know by now that the US has a legitimate right to be everywhere while countries like Vietnam have no right patrolling their own territorial waters.
