A black pak cobra. New arrival that's very laid back in comparison to other cobras I've messed with. This snake was used in shows and exhibits and has become used to people. This obviously doesn't mean it's TAME, just fairly laid back.

  • I know he seems laid back and all but why dont you have glasses on? all the black paks I have worked with would occasionally spit out of no where- even if they seemed calm.

A Black Pak is a shortened name for "Black Pakistanian", which is a sub-variation of the Indian Spectacled Cobra (Naja naja naja). This particular cobra species does NOT spit venom.

  • nice snake but is it wise to handle a non native snake outside?

  • The area the snakes are kept at is far from people and I was one of two handlers that could help me catch the snake should it have excaped. I've never had one get far and I when working with the really fast and hard to handle snakes I own, I always put them in a large stock tank or swimming pool depending on their size and ability.

  • fair enough at least you have got precautions in place, i just worry about the bad publicity the hot keeping society would recieve if ever an exotic hot was on the loose and envenomated someone

  • That's understandable. The hot keeping society does have lots to worry about without having an exotic hot escape. I usually clean cages inside the snake room, but usually record outside whenever weather permits. Before I would give up an allow a snake to escape I would shoot it first; however, I plan on never losing control to that point and work with they really difficult inside or in a stock tank since; although I may not want it to happen, anything can happen.

  • @RogueChemist My bad, I had them confused with Naja atra. This is why I don't use common names.
