  • The tank is awesome..I'm getting a eastern box turtle in a week or two but anyways I have.a 55 gallon is it big enough?and when it is 3 inches I will keep it outside in a large area protect by chicken wire...I no ALL the care is the habitats ok?

  • @brandonfij01 Hi, 55 gallen sounds good. Good luck sounds like you have every thing going good.

  • surely this is a tortoise considering its a land creature?

  • @IamMeUareYou Hi, Box turtles are land turtles.

  • How far do you have to keep the heat lamp from the substrate? My tank is getting a little too warm.

  • @0YtsanBlowout0 I have my lamps about 18inches from the substrate. Im using a 150 watt ceramic infrared heat emitter. My lamps are hung from ZooMed reptile lamp stands that move up or down to control the heat better. My tank is about 80 degrees right now. Pet stores sell thermostats that you plug your lamp into. It will turn the lamp on & off to maintain a desired temp. you could try that. Good Luck-!!

  • Cute! I had an Ornate... She died though. I'm possibly getting another one. I also have a male Eastern Box Turtle my family will have had for twelve years in May! We found him in the backyard :) I love my turtles

  • i want 1

  • I like your ornates, they seem very personable! I am looking for a female but haven't had much luck so far.

  • @newstart1651 defiantly, I would probably even put a few real plants in there. thanks for all the help, I'll most likely get 2 of these little guys in a few weeks. I'll start building their habitat tomorrow! thanks again!
