http://www.pbs.org/independentlens/objectified/ "You can now buy into good design and good taste." How does the design of your cell phone, toothbrush or couch impact your life? Did you ever stop to think about it? Director Gary Hustwit (HELVETICA) looks at our complex relationship with manufactured objects, the people who design them and the creative process behind their work. Step inside the offices of the world's most influential product designers to see how these objects influence us—oftentimes without us even knowing it.

OBJECTIFIED premieres Tuesday, November 24 on Independent Lens, a weekly series airing on PBS. Hosted by Maggie Gyllenhaal, the acclaimed series showcases powerful and innovative independent films. Presented by ITVS, Independent Lens is broadcast on PBS stations nationwide.

  • Style and Fashion are the only forms of ugliness that must be changed as often as possible. I want the things that I buy to perform their intended function, safely, efficiently, durably and inexpensively.

  • ITA, I could care less what other people think about how I dress. I HATE those "makeover" shows. They had one for men on "Oprah" yesterday. It's all about material crap. We are all just souls in a temporary vessel for just a little while here on Earth, anyway. It's how we act that is the important thing.

  • My sister calls it "Tar-ZHAY!" lol

  • Target is nasty. Walmart is better.

  • I don't think you have considered that those "Things" are often part of style and fashion as much as shirts, shoes and hats

The line is very blurred where fashion is concerned

But I agree with your line of thinking otherwise

  • @LordSlag ,Well Put!
