Why is a song about masturbating involved with knitting?

LOL this makes me think of a hipster kindergarten teacher going all agro and this is their way of lashing out at the man. Seriously I keep giggling thinking of a dude talking to himself while angrily stitching up lamp posts " this'll show them, tell me no finger painting, freaking mather frazers, I'll buy my own dam paint, arrrrggg"

Then there are the art snobs, the incredulity brigade.

It would never occur to me that people would be so outraged by this. They want their grimy lampposts all uniform, with all the color of the cheap, alloyed metals showing.

This kind of needle work is often done by groups of women in what we call a "stitch and bitch." It's a space we carve out for our own communion, FUBU. So for me, yarn bombing is an assertion of the divine feminine, and a very quick litmus test on where people stand.

I really like the simplicity and openness of the message.

For me, I had an immediate like for it when I saw one tiny yarn bomb on a tree near my home. I loved it that someone had taken the time to put a pleasant surprise there for everyone to enjoy.

What's fascinating is reading the comments on this thread. The insane nerd rage this causes! People will light it on fire, the sewers will become clogged!

Thank god for yarn bombers! I'm glad street art is really evolving to new heights. Piece-writting is gaudy and passe' tagging looks like shit, bring on the wool!!

Pollutes what scenery? A metal pole? A toilet? Some post boxes? How could you call covering a pole in some knitted fabric "pollution"? I don't know about you, but I'd rather look at something colorful and unique than uniform and boring.
