This is a traditional, Puranic, mantra invocation to awaken the energies represented by the planet Venus--or Shukra, in the Vedic Astrological system.

A Vedic astrologer would have you chant this planetary mantra to strengthen the good aspects of the force, and weaken any negative aspects preventing the blossoming of the planets full potential. The image of the male in front of the horse, and sitting in meditation, is Shukra, who represents the planet Venus; however, Goddess Lakshmi is the more universally accessible, all-encompassing Deity-Essence to contact while chanting or listening to this Mantra.

The Goddess Lakshmi, embodies love, soul-mates, wealth, happy family, harmony, song, dance, poetry and beauty. Her images, including her Yantras (the geometrical meditation form of the deity) are also shown. Included as well are Western images of the Lakshmi-Essence: i.e. Venus and Aphrodite, to demonstrate the universality of Venus energy.

I pray that this video will be a meditation to remove any negative karma that may be preventing you from enjoying the blessings of true love, beauty, wealth, happy family and home!

This Mantra is available, along with many other mantra-invocations on the CD, "Mantra Darshan." Available here:

This CD is not for easy listening, but a meditation tool to take one deeply into the essences of the causal plane and purify it from limiting samskaras (karmic patterns).

Heema-kunda-mrinalabham daityanam paramam gurum
sarva-shastra-pravaktaram bhargavam pranamamy aham

"I offer my obeisances to the descendent of bhrigu Muni, ( i.e., Venus ), whose complexion is white like a pond covered with ice. He is the supreme spiritual master of the demonic enemies of the demigods, and has spoken to them all the revealed scriptures."

Chanting the Venus mantra has the power to to purify the demonic or fear/separation based forces within us, with the power of Divine Revelation and inspiration, thus rendering our consciousness more Sattvic or clear. When Sattva is dominant, all the good things associated with Venus can freely flow into our lives, without obstruction.

To get the greatest benefit from this mantra, it traditionally chanted 16,000 times, with sincere devotion, to gain its siddhi or special power. This spiritual practice, or sadhana, should be begun on a Friday, and completed over a few months time. Blessings!

For those who have asked for the Devanagari: go here:

  • It is definitely frustrating that no one can point me to the sanskrit text for this... I mean really... It has to be somewhere. Frustrating.

  • Dear Nicholas--I'm sorry you are experiencing frustration!

I have posted a link on the very bottom of the info section to your right where you can find the Devanagari. Blessings on your Shukra mantra practice,

    S.

  • @nicholasflyer Just under the video where in light blue you have written 'show more', in the full explanation is the sanskrit wording together with the english translation. If you need help with the pronounciation, then please do reply to me and I will do all I can. God bless.

  • I have found a big difference in my life and all the qualities governed by Venus/Shukra after reciting this matra with full devotion, even if only on Fridays (Shukravaar). God bless us all.

  • @Ibicella It is most true Ibicella. Most Pre Christian religions, no matter where in the world, have many similarities, like the Druids of the Celts and the Greek/Roman/Indian festivals of harvest and river gods etc. Zeus and Vishnu have similarities, as in the one handed weapon they weild and are keepers of the peace/natural order. The only thing we could take away from all this is to promote love and harmony more, surely the two things missing from the modern world by large. Take care.

  • @richardsaxecoburg

If please no one will be offended... my true opinion is that there probably is a connection.... Aphrodite means "sea foam", she's the Greek goddess of beauty born from the frothy ocean, and mother of the love god who shoots little arrows and makes people fall in love (Cupid in Italy, Eros in Greek... Rukmini has Kama deva in India). I think I've read that the worship of Aphrodite in Greece came from further East. I just wished Greek/Roman Aphrodite still had Vishnu. :(
