My first request for a song in another language came in the other day. The request was Hebrew. I don't speak it; however, I learned a song back in the seventh great. (...The things people remember.) This is my attempt at Erev Shel Shoshanim, and it's done sans accompaniment, so I apologize in advance for any flat or sharp notes.

  • This is in the spirit of helpful suggestions. Your voice has a wonderful quality and I really enjoyed this piece. Thankyou so much!

I always say "Night of the Roses". Shoshana can mean lily or rose but "erev" means "evening". Just doesnt roll off the tongue like "Night of the Roses"

  • Loved it! Hebrew sounded pretty good. Certainly didnt sound like an English speaker. The accent was on the right syllables and the "r"s were good!

Only since you asked I caught these errors:

el haBustan. you drop the "ha"

laylah yored l'at. There is no "y" in l'at. It's a hard stop before the a.

    ruach. sometimes you say "rucha"

ahava: not "achava". Hebrew uses the h sound and its quite crisp

leragelech: not lerayeglech. The vowel after the g is clipped very short
