I Took a hard drive which I used as a former speaker and attached a wire to the Read/Write arm which is connected to the spindle motor. I had my computer do a sweep from 4-52Hz. It ends up going Really fast and is REALLY loud. (I didnt measure the rpm on it yet..)

And Yes.... Movie maker distorted the sounds again.......

  • I got 1 thing to say... HOLY SH**

  • 58 cycles or revolutions per second is 3480 RPM, pretty good for such a heath robinson arrangement :-)

Good use for a dead hard drive.

  • LOL haha funny

  • 80gb in 3 seconds

  • An interesting aspect of that motor is its ability to produce a very high speed yet random activity. One could try getting that to activate a bifilar coil magnetic field collapse and charge a battery with radiant energy... in a random order. That's be interesting.

  • nice...i like it dude...i had a lot of fun building mine...I was the first many years ago :) So what else you got, other crazy things?

  • measure RPM please :p

  • someting is telling me to copy this and add it into a laser light show Ive been working on...

  • @bebek1993 Lol.

  • @christiancapella1 And I take the magnets too, but I'm melting the hard drive, making it usable again for some aluminium pouring :P:P
