I have quite a few friends who can't stand the pitch of miku's voice but i also know a lot who like it, so it all depends on the person. Obviously no one is required to like it. And yes thank goodness they have more range.

I'm not COMPLETELY into anime, but I do know that bubbly, squeaky - voiced pseudo - adolescent & teenage girls are part of the genre, so they'd want to make a cosplaying robot that fit the mold, complete w / voice.
