Disney Dreamers and Doers 2012

On Wednesday, April 4, we had a very special visit from none other than Mickey Mouse! FLVS submitted six students as our Disney Dreamers and Doers. From more than 400 students that were nominated throughout Central Florida as Disney Dreamers & Doers, 18 students were selected to be Shining Stars. Three of those Shining Stars were FLVS students! We weren't guaranteed to have any chosen, so to have three selected is very exciting! The students had to write an essay about how they had given of themselves or given back to their community. They were invited to the VLC under the premise of participating in a focus group. They did indeed participate in a focus group while unbeknownst to them a surprise celebration was awaiting in the Student Experience Center with pizza, their families and many VLC staff! Special thanks to the many VLC'ers and teachers who joined us for the festivities. Disney was magical as usual and the kids were very surprised and very excited. Madison (elementary), Mikhala (middle school), and Noah (high school) were amazing to say the least. There were tears of joy and lots of whoops and cheers. They all received a Mouscar statue (not to be confused with the Oscar), a gold medallion, and an annual pass to Walt Disney World for their family. It was way cool.
