From a small footprint in the Pearl River Delta in 1979, Shenzhen has to a mega city in just 25 years. Historical imagery, which can be viewed as part of Google Earth's imagery, show the dramatic changes from the 1970s to today. See this and other locations of environmental change as part of the UN Environmental Programme's (UNEP) "Atlas of Our Changing Environment."

  • Shenzen is ONLY part of the issue (though probably the main factor) ALL the Cities of the PearlRiverDelta are cramped to breaking-point & STILL trying to grow, Foshan (5-7m),Macau/Zuhai (1-2m) Donguan (6-7m) Hong Kong & the "New Towns" in the land btw HK & Shenzhen (over 8million) Shenzhen (over 10m) and especially Guangzhou (Canton, over 12 m)

these cities for m a now unbroken megalopolis around this river, which IS now the BIGGEST urban-area on Earth (twice the Population of Tokyo/Yokohama)

  • people are decease on earth
