Premium Increases = Pass Health Reform

It doesn't matter. The government plans to hand out subsidies to most of us to cover the increased cost when health insurance will not be affordable when health reform is passed.
-
I was watching a Wall Street flunkie on Fox news tell everyone not to support healthcare reform. Healthier people do not buy health insurance while older sicker adults that do buy health ins. cost everone more to treat them. Fox is making our case. The big five insurance giants made $12 billion more profit with 22 million less health ins. customers. Promote free health clinics. Nothing like charity to make your little heart go pitter pat if you get there in time.

Maybe this will be the straw that breaks the camel's back. Maybe the Dems know that, so they're letting insurance greed play out for a while, letting the conservatives get a little taste of what they're wishing for. THEN, maybe they'll be willing to play ball on healthcare, rather than stifling us at every turn.

@hal2017 I think Americans care but hereabouts it is enough to call something communism or socialism for people to run in the opposite direction. So Big Business uses that to scare people away from doing the right thing.

@hal2017 it's not the american people.. it's the wealthy elite that control the government who want to protect their massive profits.. they are backed up by the brainwashed simple minded who would walk off a cliff if they were told to by their corporate masters who hide behind fake foundations and "grassroots" organizations pretending to stand for old fashioned values but r fronts for the vested interest of the elite

If the right wing should ever get to implement their agenda for this country, we would fall to third world status within one generation. Republicans, until Obama, have controlled the white house for 21 of the preceding 29 years...and this country seems to only elect democrats in the wake of republican bred catastrophes and super-blunders like the savings and loans fiasco driven downturn that elected Clinton. Obama ran on The very things that republicans say are unpopular, and Won handily. Do IT!

Thanks Republicans, I love watching that free market work! Thank you for protecting my freedom!

many americans, especially the reich-wingers, don't see healthcare
as a "basic right"! they see it as a "privilege", for the ones who can afford it !!!
and they don't care about anybody, but themselves!
Peace

@xhagast You are right, I stand corrected.
As Canadians, we have no confusion over who pays and how much. We never worry about, pre-existing conditions, co-pays, having to negotiate with a broker before seeing a doctor or having to go into bankruptcy if we get sick.
We, and the rest of the modern world, are simply amazed that Americans care so little for your fellow citizens as to deny this basic right to health and in many cases life.

These rate increases puts us right back to the beginning where the health reform process started. Push through Medicare Part E where "E" is for everyone.
Allow me to buy into Medicare. I'd much rather that 97% of my premiums go to actual patient spending rather than the 85% or less that for-profit insurance companies spend.

News flash! 59% is a majority. Use reconciliation to ram real health care reform with a robust public option down the Republicans' obstructionist throats.
