all of me
"All Of Me" is a popular song and jazz standard written by Gerald Marks and Seymour Simons in 1931.
You took my kisses and all my love
You taught me how to care
Am I to be just remnant of a one-sided love affair

All you took I gladly gave
There is nothing left for me to save

All of me
Why not take all of me
Can't you see
I'm no good without you
Take my lips
I want to lose them
Take my arms
I'll never use them
Your goodbye left me with eyes that cry
How can I go on dear, without you
You took the part that once was my heart
So why not take all of me
First recorded by Belle Baker, it has become one of the most recorded songs of its era, with notable versions by Billie Holiday, Frank Sinatra, Django Reinhardt and Willie Nelson. In an episode of Sanford and Son, Redd Foxx (joined by Scatman Crothers on guitar) sings a short but memorable version. In more recent years it has been recorded by Pia Zadora and Anne Murray. . Also, a Punk Rock rendition of the song was recorded by NOFX

  • well done!

  • @richlivengood "not that anything wrong with it" Seinfeld quote? nice

  • It does swing. It's country swing.

  • @paybarr It's his interpretation of the song.

  • "Take my leeeepshh!" Sinatra is my idol. I am extremely confused and severely offended.

  • Dude no matter what people say, you made this song yours with a personal way of interpreting it :)

  • Haha, all those "but this is not fair, you're not swinging or using jazz chords" people. You're missing the point of music..

  • @EoN604 Why should he give it swing? It's a cover. Music is cerativity, and this is his version (which I think that is pretty cool). I'm saying this with respect, please take no offense!

  • thank you!!!!
