A volcano in southern Chile that erupted the first day of the year has resumed 'permanent eruptive activity' but it poses no immediate danger to any populated area, authorities reported Wednesday. (Feb. 6)

I am Peruvian, and believe me, we are not happy with any disaster hapening to Chilean people, and i see very stupid from anyone to bring political resentment for both parts , we all need to be supportive with each other in those times, today happen to chileans, tomorrow it can happen to Peruvians :(

@sydgerald It is an ancestral grudge against us because they lost the Saltpeter War in the 19th century, and therefore the cities of Arica and Iquique. Their politicians frequently used that resentment to divert attention, when hard pressed by internal problems. Thus, they begin to fight with us for such trivialities as the origin of the potato or pisco. For the same over seeping deep into many Peruvians, but thankfully not most of them.

@sydgerald  chileans are jealous of peruvians! in the 19th century when peru and chile fought over a strip of arican desert (containing valuable nitrogenous compounds)? Peru lost. Since then both countries have hated each other. However. Chileans are actually jealous of us. Chileans have no identity; they are just transplant Europeans without the Argentinean flare or a good soccer team. Peru has great tourist destinations (machu picchu, cuzco, etc), an amazing cuisine and a booming economy. :)

Global warming caused largely by human activity is a pathetic 'smokescreen' put out by scientific alarmists (selectively fiddling data) with their greenie friends - just check out the impact of what volcanoes can spew out into the atmosphere in a month or two of eruptions. Natural events, including volcanoes, have and wil continue to have, the greatest impact on global temperatures. I am just waiting to hear how 'greenies' are going to work volcanic activity into thier theories

@sydgerald ohh thats an easy one. chile = french, peru= USA!! chileans think they all that cuz they talk the fanciest form of spanish and take advantage of their neighboring countries with nothin in return. but really they are just a bunch of suk ups to the europeans and i really dont know how theyre considered hispanics.
