@chularojo Not being rude, but that is not true. I know most of my ancestors are indigenous people in Jamaica as well as European countries. Not all come from Africa. I do know a few who trace their roots back to Africa. But my family is not that case on my mother and father side.

@electroscandal No sorry, it was created in Panama not Puerto Rico. Not trying to be rude btw !

@belleandchic no, it was created and perfected in puerto rico.

@chularojo - i can only speak for puerto ricans, but the basis of our culture is the Taino people, but african and spanish influences certainly play a role
All I know is this song predates reggaeton plain and simple. I remember I had this cassette from like 1990 or 91. West Indians can't hide the fact that they are of African descent. I feel several Latin Caribbeans don't embrace the fact that even though they may have lighter skin and straighter hair, some of them too are of African descent. This is where the problem begins...No acknowledgement of ancestry. Acknowledgement gains acceptance. It sounds racist but it's true.

@ElmuchoRoddis
Basically bow is short for "bowcat". A term used by Jamaicans to describe people who like oral sex. A majority of Jamaicans (well back in the dem days lol) considered oral sex dirty. So in the song when he says "dem bow dem bow" basically he is saying "they like oral sex"
