  • GM - GOvernment MOtors!

    1. It is with sad irony that the company which invented "planned obsolescence" -- the decision to build cars that would fall apart after a few years so that the customer would then have to buy a new one -- has now made itself obsolete.

    2. It refused to build automobiles that the public wanted.

    3. Refused to build cars that got great gas mileage, were as safe as they could be, and their cars are uncomfortable to drive.

GM and the UAW got EXACTLY what they deserve

  • Those are obscure opinions; not a whole lot of facts backing them either. GM built hummers and trucks for the hillbillys and macho jackholes. They gambled and lost. Sounds like you just have some personal issue or misguided information.

  • Someone's jaded. Some union workers are lazy, therefore ALL union workers are lazy. If unions represent union workers, all unions are bad. Your premise is a hasty generalization, therefore your argument is invalid.

  • Toyota also has a recall in now for over 300,000 vehicles. There you have it.

McDonalds is #1 in cheeseburger making too.

  • That comment presumes that companies and corporations are only looking to make an honest ordinary profit, because it implies that unions aren't necessary. That's very naive. Unions, however, do sometimes get tied up defending the minority lazy person.

No white people can dance, all black people are good at basketball, all union workers are lazy; All 3 examples of hasty generalizations. Commonly uttered by non-smart people.

  • Local P9 was, in my opinion, wrong to bring in the Ray Rodgers guy to stir up anger on both sides. What they should of done is taken the contract and tell management that they would look it over and never sign it. Don't cause trouble, just ignore their unreasonable contract and work under their old one. Make them lock you out and then they look like the bad guys. Then, the international union has no choice but to support you and you've got a nationwide boycott.

  • I worked with Bobby Matters at Wilson Food in the 1980's.(he's the guy who said he worked over 18 years. Tuff times back then!

  • "they" "unions" "the world" all hasty generalizations. UAW Union /GM just got annual 4% raises and didnt lose a dime of wages. (but that's just one union)

That's what drawing a line in the sand and getting a large group of people to stand behind that line will get you.

  • Companies like Enron, Delphi, and many others have been caught red-handed cheating and stealing. Although your anger is misdirected, I'm aware of the union worker that you seem to be referring to. The unreasonable union worker is the minority minority; the exception to the rule, just like the JT Battenburg and Martha STewarts. You're coming off like white collar workers are these honest go getters just looking to make a comfortable living. That's not the reality.

  • It disappoints me that too many envy-driven critics are first in line to beat up Union Workers wanting to fight for their $50,000/yr, but there's no line formed to criticize the company executives that get million dollar bonuses ON TOP of a salary greater than the salary of The President of The US.

Blame Congress/ Pharmacutical Co's, and Anthem BC. They're the ones exploiting Health CAre Costs.
