  • Although I would like to see "swans" commend her.

    Just a thought.

Typos are not to be discounted for their intellectual value.

  • The words are Shakespeare (two Gentlemen of Verona): Swains not swans and the German is the translation - the original is English. No ? after what is she...and so on...

  • The translation is: 1. Who is Silvia? What is she? That all our swans commend her? Holy, fair, and wise is she The heaven such grace did lend her That admired she might be. 2. Is she kind as she is fair? For beauty lives with such kindness Love doth to her eyes repair To help him of his blindness And, being helped, inhabits there. 3. Then to Silvia let us sing That Silvia is excelling She excels each mortal thing Upon the dull earth dwelling To her garlands let us bring.
  • Hermann Prey was outstanding!

  • I watched a couple of interpretations of Schubert, but Hermann Prey fits the best
