So careful in planting each step of its way. We humans need to learn to walk/think like that so we don't get into crazy trouble/step on shit all the time.

@2morrows I don't really agree that you can't keep it in a glass tank..
I mean, everyone says that.. but the breeder i got mine from says she keeps them in a glass tank and they are fine,, and they've had theirs for like, 5 years..
You just have to know how to take care of it when you keep it in a glass tank..

I love the way chameleons walk.

hey, why is it so hard to pet them?
i want to get one but im doing a lot of research on them first because im responsible for it when i get it..
i have glassed cage.... with all the lights n stuff but not sure when i can take it out and that because its supposed to keep to its own temperture ?

you can't have a chameleon in a glass aquarium- it needs a screened in cage to allow for air flow. If it doesn't, it will get respiratory infections/pnemonia, and die.

i have a couple of questions
are these guys hard to take care of?
do you HAVE to take them out?
and how big does their cage have to be?
Studman2011 3 years ago
EXTREMELY difficult, and they do need a large cage. you aren't supposed to take them out since most of them get stressed (to the point of death) but ours enjoys walking around and being outside in the sun (we hold her of course).

ok so how big of a cage like 3x their size?

I would honestly do a lot more research, find lots of sources since care for panther chameleons tends to show a lot of...well, discrepancies. it's not an exact science. In general, I'd go with a screened in cage (NO GLASS AQUARIUM!)... an adult male panther chameleon should be housed in a cage no smaller than a 2'x2'x4'(tall).
