Hollister, abercrombie, aeropostdale, and all those bullshit stores are not preppy at all. True preps wear Vineyard Vines, Ralph Lauren, Brooks Brothers, Southern Tide, Southern Proper, etc. Real preps go to prep schools (usually new england/east coast boarding schools) and always show off their money, class, and good looks. You really don't have to be that rich to be a prep just always have class and know how to dress.

Okay I'm in a sorority, pretty sure you'd consider me "preppy". I haven't shopped at hollister/ae/abercrombie/aero since middle school. I don't talk like an idiot and I don't dress like a slut. Yes, I get good grades, but in no way do I think I'm better than someone else. Yes, I wear Ralph Lauren, Ann Taylor, Sevens, and Brooks Brothers, but I also shop at Target and Old Navy. being PREPPY is about being CLASSY... aka being polite and presentable.. not acting like a slut. nice try.

Perhaps this isn't quite the forum to ask, but it did arise in the video....why on earth do people wear brand names emblazoned across their clothes for all the world to see (1:54)? I mean, it's essentially unpaid advertising, it impresses no one, and there's no style to it. So why? I see it everywhere. Just wondering what others think.
