This is the Barcarole, the fourth movement, from the Suite Cavatina. The suite was written around 1951 by the Polish composer Alexandre Tansman for the eminent guitarist Andres Segovia. While the first movement, the Preludio, presents the most difficult technical challenges for me, I find this Barcarole is the most musically difficult movement in the suite. Currently, I play the suite in its original four movements, without the Danza Pomposa. This is because Tansman originally wrote only four movements, and he added the Danza Pomposa later only because Segovia requested it. Having said that, the Danza Pomposa is a great piece, and I'm sure I'll eventually incorporate it into the suite as an optional, alternative ending. The picture at the beginning of this video is of a Venetian gondolier, for the barcarole form originated from them. The picture behind me is Pablo Picasso's "The Old Guitarist."
if only Voldamort was like this.. But yeah, b-e-a-utiful playing!
