This is my qualifying lap from the Aug 06 SCCA National Race at Virginia International Raceway. Even in the heat, it was easily the fastest T1 lap ever - 2:05.26

  • I came close Chris.... I have video on here of my 2:06 lap at 07 Viper Days when you were there.

  • Yep, not bad. That track continues to improve year by year. When the weather is decent, we're seeing 2:02s now! If you'll change your line into 16 and thru 17, you'll shave another second or so off. Your entry is way too early. Try going straight as you come down the hill so you can get on the power earlier.

Nice job. But, why don't you stick a cage in that thing and come on out into T1 with us?!

  • I heard something about a 2:02 T1 Vette. Was it a C6 LS3 prepped by Phoenix? The owners son or something?

I totaled my car last year in the snake on cold tires in Dec (30deg). Used slicks on a cold track don't mix to well.

I'm thinking of going E30 racing because I can't afford to run with you big dawgs in T1.

What do you think of the E30 class? I know it's slow but looks like fun and consumables can't be to bad.

  • Yeah, AJ (Joe Aqualante's kid) did a 2:02.9 on sticker A6s and a 2:04 something in the race.

Before selling my old C5, I practiced in the 03s and 04s and ran in the 03s and 04s with used tires with David Pintaric's T1 Viper in the April National. (I'd never driven it before then.)

The track continues to improve as do the tires, brakes, etc. Still, anything under a 2:10 is a very good time. Sorry to hear that you banged up your car. I know nothing about the E30 class...sorry.

  • why dont ya'll gut the cars out anyhow? whats the minimum weight for those T1 Vettes?...and how is 2:05 the fastest time ever? the Ford GT and C6 Z06 broke 2 minutes in Car & Drivers tests.

  • That's not allowed in Touring. We have to keep the interiors. 3280# is the min weight at the end of the race. My 2:05 was the quickest T1 (Touring 1) time ever. Those other cars you mentioned aren't in T1...and certainly won't break 2 minutes in the stock config either - on the full course anyway.

  • yeah I just read that lol. btw about what do ya'll run around Road Atlanta?

  • VIR is a very scary track lol, many of the turns are on hill crests, making them blind, also a cresting a hill at high speed causes the car to unload, loosing grip, taking turns that is thrilling to say the least.

  • That's a vette.

  • Great driving - Congrats on the record! It's interesting to see a car point of view as I did many laps around VIR (North, South and Full Course) on my 2000 Aprilia Mille R streetbike. My personal best around the full course is 2:03.16. Of course that is about 15 seconds off full-race prepped literbikes with people that do it for a living...
