The California Supreme Court reached a decision in People v. Diaz that police may lawfully search mobile phones on arrested individuals, without first obtaining a search warrant. So with this ruling, should we just call privacy dead or are there still tricks to keep your personal information safe? Competitive Enterprise Institute's Ryan Radia explains.

  • @gsvkck sorry...it's a sore subject with me and it gets under my skin the amount of apathy in this country...and it usually starts with some small virtually unnoticed legislation that includes another loss of another right that the gov't passes off as "for our protection and safety". Which is usually another phrase for our "control". What's happening in this country is disgusting at the very least.

  • on a blackberry if you get the password wrong 10 time it resets and restores the phone, what if an officer does that to my phone and i lose very important work information?

  • also, newer phones can be "turned on" and used as a bug by the fbi. that is, the microphones and can be activated by the phone company thru a police order and then they just eavesdrop on the person whereever they go. or so i have been told and heard it on the news.

  • i heard about a truck driver in georgia who accidently sent some pornographic text message to a minor, and the minor told their parent, and that led to the police and back to the truck driver, who got arrested for distributing porno to a minor.
